Ambedkar A Life by Shashi Tharoor
From my perspective, this book offers a comprehensive account of the life and legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The first part of the book primarily focuses on his life, starting from his birth, the incidents of discrimination that he faced, his academic achievements, and his political career. It also covers his role as the chairman of the drafting commission and his rivalry with Mahatma Gandhi. However, I did feel that the book had a limited account of his childhood, and I expected it to delve deeper into this aspect of his life. The second part of the book mainly explores the legacy that Ambedkar carried and his ideas of equality, not just in terms of caste discrimination but also regarding class and gender discrimination. The book discusses his views on women's rights and his ideas on equality that transcend caste barriers.
